Hi! My name is James Aitcheson, and I’m the owner of ASquared Photography. I’m also a Dad to two wonderful sons who have Asperger’s Disorder. I am always looking for fun things to do with my boys that don’t lead to meltdowns and misunderstandings, but lead to fun times and great memories. It seems like we hear about all the negatives that Autism brings – the meltdowns, the sensory issues, the communications issues, and all the challenges. The positives are rarely reported and celebrated. The unique way our kids see the world, experience new things, and their unique way of thinking…

This event is to highlight those wonderful skills and talents our children have, and to show the world that even though they are different, they have a lot to share with everyone!

ASquared Photography wants you to join the “World Through My Eyes 2012 Photo Walk”. This community art event is designed for 10 to 15 children affected by Autism, in the age range between 5 and 16 years old. The photo walk will happen on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Willow Bay area of Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, New York. This event is being presented at no cost to the families of the children participating! We are parents of two children on the Spectrum, and understand how difficult it is to find fun, appropriate entertainment for our family that isn’t cost prohibitive.

We would like to be able to put a camera in each child’s hand that they can use to take pictures of the park, the lake, their parents – whatever suits their fancy and catches their eye. At the end of the photo walk, we will collect the pictures from the cameras and then give the cameras back to the children. The goal is twofold – to hopefully spark an interest in photography as a hobby, and to give the children their own camera to keep and continue to use.

The pictures that the children take will be gathered and a book will be published featuring their photos in an effort to show the community how our very special children view the world. I hope that you will join in and support this unique project in the community and help show the world how these wonderful, talented children view the world around them.

In order for this project to be a success, I need your help. Support the project through this campaign. If you can't help by donating you can help by getting the word out! Share on Fb, twitter, and every where you can think of.
